Cincinnati weather

Paint that survives a Cincinnati year

Exterior paint in Cincinnati has a harder job than most. Humid summers keep siding, trim and masonry damp long after a storm, and the river valleys around the Ohio hold moisture low to the ground, which feeds mildew and peeling on shaded walls. Then winter arrives: water works into small cracks, freezes, expands and pushes coatings loose when it thaws, cycle after cycle. A new coat over a failing surface lasts a season. That is why Slye's Painting spends the first part of every exterior job on preparation: power washing, scraping, sanding, repairing rot and caulking open joints before anything gets primed. Sealed seams keep water out, and a coating made for wide temperature swings keeps flexing instead of cracking. Whether your home is in Indian Hill, Anderson Township or Fort Thomas, the weather is the same, so the prep is too.

The same logic applies to wood. Soft or rotted boards hold water, so they are repaired or replaced before they are painted, not hidden under another coat.

  • Humid summers

Moisture sits in shaded siding and trim, so mildew is washed off and surfaces are dry before paint goes on.

  • Freeze-thaw winters

Cracks and open joints take on water that freezes. We caulk and seal them so coatings are not pried off from behind.

  • River-valley moisture

Homes near the Ohio and its valleys stay damp longer, so wood rot is repaired first and bare spots are primed.

Coatings we use

High-performance exterior coatings

The coating matters as much as the prep. For exteriors, Slye's Painting uses high-performance products chosen to protect siding, brick and trim for years, not just to look good on the first day.

  • Emerald

  • Romabio

Romabio exterior coatings for brick and masonry, backed by a 20-year warranty. Ask for the terms with your estimate.

How it works

Preparation comes first, then paint

Most exterior paint fails because the prep was skipped. Our crew works through the same steps on every house, so the finish bonds to a clean, sound surface and holds up. You can leave the preparation and protection of your property to us.

  6. 6

    Paint and clean up

Finish coats go on, then we pick up and leave the site cleaner than we found it.

Before any of it starts, we cover flower beds, shrubs and other landscape features, and use drop cloths to prevent damage and mess.

Questions

Exterior painting questions, answered

What affects the price of exterior painting in Cincinnati?

The price of exterior painting in Cincinnati depends on the size and height of the home, the surfaces involved, how much prep and repair the walls need, and the coatings you choose. Brick, wood rot and peeling paint add work. We look at the house in person and give you a written estimate for your specific job.

What is included in your exterior painting service?

Exterior painting with Slye's Painting includes power washing, scraping, sanding, repairs, sealing, caulking and priming before the finish coats. We also cover flower beds, shrubs and landscape features, use drop cloths, and clean up when we finish, so your Cincinnati property is left better than we found it.

How long does an exterior painting project take?

The timeline for exterior painting depends on the size of the house, the number of stories, how much prep and repair is needed, and the weather. Rain and cold can pause work because paint needs dry surfaces to cure. After you book an estimate, we walk the property and give you a realistic schedule for your project.

Can you paint brick, stucco and masonry?

Yes. Slye's Painting paints brick, masonry and stucco in Cincinnati, along with siding, porches, shutters, garage doors and front doors. For brick and masonry we also use Romabio coatings and limewash, backed by a 20-year warranty. We check the surface first and recommend the right system for it.

Do you handle wood rot repair before painting?

Yes. Wood rot repair is part of our exterior painting work in Cincinnati. Soft or damaged siding, trim, fascia and soffit are repaired before priming, because paint over rot fails quickly and traps moisture. We point out problem areas during your estimate so the repairs are planned before the first coat goes on.

What areas do you serve for exterior painting?

Slye's Painting provides exterior painting across Cincinnati, including Indian Hill, Norwood, White Oak, Anderson Township, Milford and Loveland, and across Northern Kentucky in Covington, Florence, Fort Thomas, Fort Mitchell, Newport, Erlanger, Independence and Burlington. If your town is nearby, book an estimate and we will confirm.

Is there a warranty or follow-up after the job?

Every Slye's Painting project includes two years of worry-free touch-ups at no cost, available once a year for two years. If something needs attention after your exterior paint cures, we come back to take care of it. The touch-up page explains what is covered and what is not.
